As part of the exercise with the Arctic expeditionary force, which is being led by the commander of the Northern Fleet (SF), Admiral Alexander Moiseev, the personnel of the Arctic motorized rifle brigade of the army corps of the Northern Fleet worked out a set of tasks for the defense of Russian territory in the Far North and the Arctic.

A live-fire exercise of arctic motorized rifle units took place at a military training ground in the Kandalaksha district of the Murmansk region.

The servicemen worked out actions on engineering equipment of positions, fortifications, camouflage and organization of interaction on the battlefield. Particular attention was paid to the conduct of reconnaissance using unmanned aircraft and the organization of mobile defense.

More than 1000 military personnel were involved in the exercise, over 150 units of weapons and military equipment were involved. The application of a massive artillery strike against armored vehicles and manpower of the advancing conventional enemy from self-propelled howitzers “Gvozdika” and mortars has been worked out.

In the course of maneuvering defense, the Arctic motorized rifle practiced the tactics of fire ambushes using modern means of camouflaging weapons and equipment.

At the stage of practical actions, combat training exercises were conducted with motorized rifle and artillery units of the brigade. Directly at the training ground, the servicemen practiced firing small arms, combat vehicles, guns, mortars and grenade launchers at targets imitating armored vehicles and the accumulation of enemy personnel at distances from 100 to 3000 meters, and fired at low-flying air targets.

The exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group of the Northern Fleet is held in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the leadership of the Commander of the Northern Fleet and is the final stage in the implementation of a set of measures for operational and combat training of forces (troops) of the Northern Fleet in the current year.

The practical actions of the forces (troops) of the Northern Fleet are played out at the training grounds of the Murmansk region, in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, the Laptev Sea in the region of the New Siberian Islands, and the Franz Josef Land archipelago.

Up to 8 thousand servicemen are involved in the exercise, about 800 units of military and special equipment are involved, including about 40 tanks, 460 armored combat vehicles, up to 240 guns, mortars and multiple launch rocket systems, about 120 aircraft, including the number of unmanned vehicles, up to 50 ships and support vessels.
