More than 700 tons of scrap metal were collected by servicemen of the environmental platoon of the Central Military District (CVO) during the cleaning of the Arctic zone from pollution in the area of ​​the Volochanka village in the Taimyr Dolgan-Nenets district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Yulia Kolokolnikova, head of the environmental safety service of the Central Military District, told reporters about this.

“Since the beginning of June this year, the military ecologists of the Central Military District have collected 750 tons of scrap metal during the cleaning of the Arctic zone, thereby exceeding the plan by 150 tons. In the course of the work, the servicemen dismantled and cut 25 metal structures and tanks, pressed more than 5.5 thousand barrels, preparing the collected scrap metal for transportation to storage sites, ”said Yulia Kolokolnikova. She noted that today the work on cleaning up the Arctic zone has been completed and the military personnel of the Central Military District have begun to return to their permanent deployment points.

More than 30 military personnel and about 20 units of special and automotive equipment were involved in cleaning the Arctic zone from environmental debris.

An autonomous field camp was set up to house the servicemen.
