Military railroad workers of the Eastern Military District (VVO) are preparing the foundation of embankments for laying railroad tracks in the areas of reconstruction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM).

In the course of preparatory work for the reconstruction of the BAM, the servicemen have already freed some construction sites from afforestation and are performing work on the formation of the foundation of the future railway embankment. With the help of heavy construction equipment, soil is developed and removed in a strip about 50 meters wide along the existing BAM railway track. After that, the formation and filling of the base of the future embankment is carried out, along which the second railway track will be laid. To date, about 60 thousand cubic meters have been developed and removed, and more than 10 thousand cubic meters of rocky soil have been filled into the base of the future embankment.

In the course of preparatory work, military railway workers constantly have to face great difficulties caused by swamps and permafrost soil.

Since the beginning of the work, the military railroad workers have already cleared the area of about 120 hectares of forest plantations on the sections with a length of more than 30 km. They dumped about 15 km of roadside roads. About 100 thousand cubic meters of rocky soil were mined from quarries and taken to the construction sites.
