A detachment of ships of the Northern Fleet (SF) consisting of the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, the large landing ship Georgy Pobedonosets and the rescue tugboat Pamir left the port of Dudinka in the direction of the Kara Sea.
The Severomors spent a week in the capital of Taimyr. They arrived there on 7 September. During this time, the servicemen of the Northern Fleet organized a large cultural program for the residents of Dudinka and Norilsk, held sports competitions with local volleyball and football teams. A friendly ice hockey match took place on the Taimyr ice arena between the team of the detachment of warships and representatives of the city administration of Dudinka.
The Severomors held lessons of courage in the educational institutions of the city of Dudinka. More than 3 thousand local residents visited the large anti-submarine ship “Severomorsk” on an excursion. On board, 50 Taimyr schoolchildren were admitted to the ranks of the All-Russian children’s and youth military-patriotic public movement Yunarmiya.
As part of an exercise with the Arctic group of the Northern Fleet to protect the Arctic island zone and the sea coast of the Russian Federation, sailors and marines for the first time in history conducted a combat training operation to liberate a strategic object in the Arctic – the Dudinsky seaport, having worked out the actions of personnel simultaneously from the water, with air and from the ground. Also, the Severomorians conducted several training sessions on anti-submarine and sabotage defense of ships during anchorage on the Yenisei River.
The tenth cruise of the Arctic group of the Northern Fleet under the leadership of Deputy Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Oleg Golubev has been going on since August 10. During the transition from Severomorsk, the detachment of ships and vessels covered more than 7 thousand nautical miles. The group includes the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk, the large landing ship Georgy Pobedonosets, the tanker Sergei Osipov, and the rescue tug Pamir.
