Medical specialists of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in a mobile multidisciplinary hospital deployed in Sukhum on August 18 received about 600 residents of the Republic of Abkhazia for treatment and consultation with a new coronavirus infection.

106 people have already been discharged from the hospital – the patients underwent the necessary course of treatment, after which repeated laboratory complex tests for the presence of the disease showed a negative result. The patients received further recommendations from the attending physicians.

Patients are brought in by ambulance from all districts of the republic, some of them go on an outpatient basis in the direction of doctors. The decision on hospitalization and further treatment is made in agreement with the local doctors.

The doctors of the Southern Military District carry out round-the-clock reception of patients and treatment and diagnostic measures, carry out PCR diagnostics of analyzes delivered from city laboratories. The field hospital laboratory allows for a one-time loading of up to 24 biological samples.

All research results are sent back to the laboratories of the republic, which significantly speeds up testing, the analysis is done within forty minutes. Also, the hospital has established a work with the Republican bacteriological laboratory in Sukhum, where doctors are assisting in the identification of strains and varieties of new coronavirus infection.

In the mobile laboratories of the field hospital, about 1,500 different clinical studies have already been carried out, including more than 1,000 PCR tests, more than 500 plain chest radiographs.

The mobile multidisciplinary hospital is a field medical unit designed for inpatient treatment of patients with a new coronavirus infection, designed for 100 beds, if necessary, it is possible to equip another 50 beds. More than 100 servicemen work in the hospital, the brigades are distributed in equal parts and are on duty in shifts.

The doctors have at their disposal the most modern medical equipment – portable and stationary ventilators, monitors for intensive observation of patients, X-ray machines, ultrasound machines, blood analyzers and a PCR laboratory.

The drug base has been fully formed, oxygen supply has been established, which the field hospital supplies to the Russian military base of the Southern Military District, located in Gudauta. On average, about 100 oxygen cylinders are consumed per day at full load.
