September 17 in the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior took place thanksgiving service before the icon of the Mother of God “Burning Bush”.

The service was performed by Bishop Bronnitsky, His Grace Savvaty.

Acting Minister of EMERCOM of Russia Alexander Chupriyan, the leadership of the ministry, firefighters and rescuers, cadets of departmental universities took part in the traditional prayer service.

During the service, Bishop Bronnitsky thanked the firefighters and rescuers for their heroic work, noted the high sense of duty and great responsibility of the firefighter brotherhood. He prayed for the untimely deceased Minister Yevgeny Zinichev, who gave his life to save the life of another person.

Solemn prayers have been served in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow since 2015.

The icon of the Mother of God “The Burning Bush” in Russia has always been considered the guardian of the home from fires and has been the patroness of firefighters since ancient times. It has become a good tradition for employees of the emergency department to take part in the thanksgiving services in honor of the image of the Most Holy Theotokos “Burning Bush”.

Thanksgiving prayers to the icon about firefighters and rescuers with the participation of employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, religious processions and actions with the participation of the population takes place on this day every year throughout Russia.

So, today a solemn prayer service was served in the church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God in Fili-Davydkovo… The service, led by the rector of the church, Archpriest Leonid Oleinikov, was attended by parishioners, personnel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, veterans and volunteers.

The day on which the icon of the Mother of God “Burning Bush” is honored can be called the Orthodox professional holiday of firefighters. The icon “Burning Bush” is placed in all fire departments and is the most revered in the fire and rescue fraternity.
