Servicemen of the electronic warfare (EW) units, unmanned aviation and the engineer-sapper unit of the Central Military District (CVO) during a tactical and special exercise at the Yurginsky training ground in the Kemerovo region worked out joint actions to promptly mine the route of a multi-kilometer march of a military equipment convoy.
According to the concept of the exercise, the servicemen of the artillery units were tasked with making a march of many kilometers as part of a military convoy to the area of combat use. The personnel of the engineer-sapper unit was faced with the task of demining several routes with a length of more than 100 kilometers in order to carry out a quick transfer of units. In the course of the event, in order to strengthen the sapper units, the calculations of complexes with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) “Orlan-10” and the means of electronic warfare “Lesochek” were allocated.
Unmanned aircraft units conducted aerial reconnaissance, identifying safe routes and potentially dangerous places.
To prevent the detonation of radio-controlled landmines, active jamming stations were installed on the vehicles, which were located on the first vehicle and in the middle of the convoy.
In places where danger was detected, sappers carried out operational demining of areas using modern protective suits OVR-2 “Sokol” and mine detectors “Korshun”. In addition, during the march, the servicemen worked out actions to repel an attack by a sabotage and reconnaissance group of a simulated enemy.
The use of techniques for conducting rapid engineering-sapper reconnaissance made it possible to complete the tasks of transferring troops in a timely manner and, in general, showed a great advantage over the methods of demining previously used.
More than 500 military personnel were involved in the exercise, about 40 units of military and special equipment were involved.
