Specialists in the radiation, chemical and biological (RCB) protection of the Russian military base of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District (YuVO) in South Ossetia provided disguise for the redeployment of battalion tactical groups from modern reconnaissance assets within the framework of bilateral exercises.

The personnel of the aerosol unit, using modern thermal smoke machines TDA-2K, created an aerosol cloud about one kilometer in front of the front of the conditional enemy.

Thus, it was possible to hide from the “enemy” the maneuvers of motorized rifle subunits, having completed the assigned task. The camouflage of battalion groups helped to achieve a tactical advantage over the conditional enemy.

In addition, the specialists of the RCB protection carried out the installation of aerosol curtains at one of the control points using portable aerosol countermeasures – unified smoke bombs – remotely using electronic means of detonation.

This week, four bilateral battalion tactical exercises are being held in the Southern Military District at combined-arms training ranges located in the Volgograd Region, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Chechen Republic and at a military base in the Republic of South Ossetia. About 6 thousand servicemen take part in them, about 300 pieces of weapons and equipment are involved, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and multiple launch rocket systems. For the purpose of interspecific interaction, more than 40 aircraft and helicopters of army and operational-tactical aviation have been attracted from the association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District.
