On September 17, the psychological service of the EMERCOM of Russia and the Center for Emergency Psychological Aid celebrate an important professional date – 22 years from the date of formation. Today, the psychological service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry consists of more than 800 specialists in all regions of our country, who are ready to help people in trouble every minute.

For 22 years of work, psychologists of the Russian Emergencies Ministry have helped affected people in more than 150 major emergency situations of a federal scale and humanitarian operations abroad. Among them – the incident in the gymnasium No. 175 in Kazan, the crash of the An-26 aircraft in the Kamchatka Territory, the flood in the Irkutsk region, the provision of psychological assistance to the population in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and many others.

Psychologists EMERCOM of Russia have created a unique system for providing emergency psychological assistance to victims. This system allows in a short time and with high efficiency to provide emergency psychological assistance when working on emergencies of various scales – from local to international.

Every year, psychologists conduct more than 230 thousand activities to support the activities of personnel. Such activities allow specialists to effectively perform professional tasks when working under extreme loads.

Psychologists EMERCOM of Russia contribute to the prevention of emergencies, promoting the ideas of a culture of safety, first aid and psychological support, updating the school subject of life safety and psychological education in society.

Psychologists EMERCOM of Russia carried out a lot of work in the framework of psychological education of the population during the pandemic. Participated in the work of the “hot line” to provide psychological assistance to citizens during the lockdown period. The department’s specialists have developed guidelines for maintaining mental health and psychological well-being during the epidemic.

The Emergency Psychological Aid Center of the EMERCOM of Russia is a certified emergency rescue unit, as well as the founder of a new direction in psychological science – extreme psychology. Since 2016, at the Faculty of Psychology, Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, the Department of Extreme Psychology was opened, headed by the director of the Center, Yulia Shoigu. Every year the best graduates of this department join the ranks of psychological service specialists.
