Today Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky in Tatarstan, a solemn ceremony of launching a serial small missile ship of project 21631 (developed by Zelenodolsk Design Bureau) was held, which was named Grad by order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov.

Representatives of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Main Command of the Navy, the administration of the Zelenodolsk municipal district, the management of the Ak Bars Holding Company, the Ak Bars Shipbuilding Corporation, as well as representatives of the designer, contractor organizations and etc.

On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, the Zelenodolsk shipbuilders were congratulated by the head of the Navy’s shipbuilding department, Captain 1st Rank Ilyas Shigapov. He conveyed to the shipbuilders the words of Admiral Nikolai Evmenov that “another combat ship equipped with precision weapons was traditionally built by Zelenodol residents with high quality and will become a worthy addition to the surface component of the Navy.”

“The ships of project 21631 have actually proven their high efficiency, operating as part of the Navy. Their characteristics have been tested in practice. The deployed serial construction of small missile ships of project 21631 has made it possible to significantly increase the potential of the surface forces of the Navy, which today honorably performs tasks of any complexity, ”the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief said in his congratulations.

The event also included the traditional “godmother” breaking a bottle of champagne on the side of the ship, as well as awarding the best workers of the plant who made a significant contribution to the development of shipbuilding production.

Small missile ships of project 21631 are being built at the Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky since 2010. According to the developer, they are multipurpose ships and are equipped with the most modern weapons.

Currently, already nine units of this project are successfully performing the assigned tasks as part of the Russian Navy.
