The availability of high-tech operations in the profile of cardiovascular surgery has increased in Moscow. New equipment and qualifications of doctors made it possible to perform more than 21 thousand such operations in the first half of 2021.

“A key area in the development of Moscow healthcare is increasing the availability of specialized, including high-tech, medical care. Within the framework of this direction, innovative equipment appears and is used in the city, and specialists have the opportunity of constant high-quality training in the latest methods of treatment. One of the demanded areas of high-tech care in the city is cardiovascular surgery. We regularly strengthen the capabilities of this area so that as many patients as possible can receive high-tech care. In the first six months, more than 21.2 thousand high-tech cardiovascular surgeries were performed in Moscow. This is more than in the same periods of the last 10 years, which indicates the ever-increasing availability of such complex interventions, “- said the deputy head

Department of Health Of Moscow Alexey Tokarev.

According to him, successful complex operations for cardiovascular pathologies have already become a regular practice for the city. These include coronary artery bypass grafting and prosthetics of heart valves, for example, resource-intensive interventions for lesions of the valve apparatus of the heart – transcatheter prosthetics (TAVI), surgeries for congenital heart and vascular diseases, including in children, implantation of a cardioverter-defibrillator in patients with severe heart failure, with the danger of fatal arrhythmias and others.

Such interventions are carried out in more than 20 city hospitals: clinical hospitals named after I.V. Davydovsky, S.P. Botkin, M.P. Konchalovsky, N.I. Pirogova, S.S. Yudin, N.V. Sklifosovsky, in hospitals No. 13, 31, 51, children’s clinical hospitals – named after N.F. Filatov, Morozovskaya and others. High-tech medical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases is also provided in the red zones of hospitals where patients with COVID-19 are treated.

The volume of medical care in the capital is growing steadily. So, in the first six months of 2021, almost 90 thousand high-tech operations of various profiles were performed in the city. This is significantly more than last year and the same periods before the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, high-tech assistance in the Moscow health care system is provided free of charge in more than 40 city hospitals in 20 profiles.
