Experts have identified the nominees for the Korney Chukovsky Moscow Government Prize, one of the largest competitions in the field of children’s literature in Russia. A total of 677 applications were submitted. No more than 10 works were selected for each nomination. The long list of the literary competition presents the works of authors from more than 30 publishing houses from different regions of Russia.

The works sent to the competition were evaluated by well-known figures in the field of literature. This is the chairman of the jury of the Korney Chukovsky awards, children’s writer and playwright Andrei Usachev, head of the recommendatory bibliography of children’s literature at the Russian State Children’s Library Natalya Kozlovskaya, head of the center for children’s books and children’s programs of the Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino Olga Mäeots, author, member of the Union of Journalists of Russia Zhanna Perelyaeva.

The shortlist of the competition will be announced on October 20. It will include no more than five works in each category. After that, a readers’ vote will be launched on the site of the “Active Citizen” project to determine the winner in the seventh nomination “The best work for children in the opinion of readers”. Voting will take place from October 20 to November 5. Last year, the townspeople voted the best book “Our Earth – breathes” Evgenia Basova.

The solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the competition will take place in November. The winner in each of the seven nominations will receive one million rubles. Details – on the official website of the competition.
