Today, a detachment of ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet, performing the tasks of the Arctic campaign under the flag of Vice-Admiral Oleg Golubev, Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet, crossed the narrowest part of the Vilkitsky Strait and entered the Laptev Sea.

A Ka-27 helicopter flew several times for ice reconnaissance from the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk. The ice conditions along the crossing route were mostly favorable, the most part of the way through the strait the Severomors passed through open water.

The detachment includes a large anti-submarine ship “Severomorsk”, a large landing ship “Georgy Pobedonosets”, a rescue tugboat “Pamir” and a tanker “Sergei Osipov”.

Currently, ships and vessels of the Arctic group continue to sail in the western part of the Laptev Sea.

The tenth Arctic cruise of the surface forces of the Northern Fleet began on August 10 with a departure from the main base of the Northern Fleet in the city of Severomorsk. The cruise takes place under the flag of Vice-Admiral Oleg Golubev, Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet. During the Arctic cruise, ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet have covered more than 7,800 nautical miles, conducted a number of exercises in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, as well as in the port of Dikson.
