On September 18, the fire brigade of the city of Kursk and the Kursk region celebrates the 222nd anniversary of its foundation. The first professional firefighters appeared in the region in 1799. It was a police unit equipped with firefighting tools.

Then, in the 18th century, its staff consisted of only 105 people, and only half of the personnel were engaged in extinguishing. Four fire brigades served the entire city with a fire-fighting wagon equipped with wheeled wooden barrels and a hand pump. Since then, the fire brigade has gone through many changes, but it was 222 years ago that its formation began.

Two centuries later, the region’s fire department is a powerful structure, which includes units equipped with various types of technical equipment and weapons. Today’s firefighters are professionals in their field who have passed a certain level of training in various training departments and are constantly improving their professional level.

Today, Kursk firefighters, like firefighters throughout the country, solve problems not only to extinguish fires, but also provide assistance to the population in emergency situations, react to road accidents. Every day, fire departments go out on alarm dozens of times, come to the aid of hundreds of citizens.

Kursk firefighters have high results of combat work and prompt response to reports of fires and other key indicators. Many of them have received government and ministerial awards for their dedicated work.
