Activists of the All-Russian children’s and youth military-patriotic public movement Yunarmiya, together with servicemen of the missile brigade of the combined-arms army of the Western Military District, took part in the inauguration of the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Matrosov in the Kursk region.

The opening ceremony took place on the territory of the secondary school No. 2 in the Karl Liebknecht settlement of the Kurchatov region. The Yunarmeysky detachment that took part in the solemn event bears the name of the Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Matrosov.

During the ceremony, the Yunarmeys and rocket men laid flowers at the memorial, performed with a military-patriotic program, and also marched. Also, the event was attended by members of veteran organizations, representatives of regional and district administrations, public organizations, teachers and students.

On February 27, 1943, Private Alexander Matrosov, in a battle near the village of Chernushki, Pskov Region, covered a German machine gun with his body, saving the lives of his comrades. He was only 19 years old. Alexander Matrosov was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union

In total, about 100 people took part in the ceremony.
