Today, the CSKA Museum of Sports Glory hosted the solemn signing of an additional Agreement to the organizational contract of 2019 between the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the International Council for Military Sports (CISM) on granting the right to host the III World Cadet Games, which will be held in August 2022 in St. Petersburg.

The head of the Physical Training and Sports Directorate of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Colonel Andrei Zykov, and the President of the International Council of Military Sports, Colonel Herve Picchirillo (France) put their signatures on the supplementary agreement.

“The Cadet Games, along with the World Summer and Winter War Games, are among the main events of our activities, – said the president of CISM. – We all know that 2020 was a very difficult year due to restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the competition was postponed. But despite the fact that not all restrictions have been lifted, this year we are resuming active sports activities and will finally be able to hold the III Cadet Games in 2022 ”.

Colonel Herve Picchirillo also stressed that the Cadet Games are competitions for young cadets and cadets. “The Armed Forces around the world are trying to spread military values ​​among young people. And, of course, for all these servicemen who will come to St. Petersburg next summer, this will be a huge and significant event. I would like to sincerely thank the entire organizing committee, everyone who participates in the organization and preparation of these cadet games for the interaction that you constantly provide, for the fruitful work together with the CISM headquarters, “he said in conclusion.

In response, Colonel Andrei Zykov thanked the leadership of the International Military Sports Council for granting the right to host the III Cadet Games in Russia. “I am very pleased that in our hall at the signing of our supplementary agreement today there are people who are serious about the development of sports in military universities and were at the origin of the idea of ​​holding these games in Russia. Major General Oleg Botsman initiated this major tournament in our country. I am also pleased that the head of CSKA, Colonel Artem Gromov, is present here. I am deeply convinced that through the efforts of the army club, these competitions will be held at the highest level in the city of St. Petersburg. In Russian military universities, cadets enjoy playing sports and participating in these competitions is honorable and prestigious for them. Thank you very much for your trust, ”Zykov said.

By the decision of the CISM Board of Directors dated February 22, 2018, the Russian Federation received the right to host the World Cadet Games 2020, which received the official name “III World Cadet Games 2020 in St. Petersburg”.

The main venue for these Games will be the Military Institute of Physical Culture. Also, the competition will be held at the sports facilities of the Central Sports Club of the Army, located in the city of St. Petersburg.

The program of the World Cadet Games is planned to include competitions in seven sports: international military pentathlon, athletics, orienteering, shooting, volleyball, swimming and summer biathlon (cross disciplines).

At the end of the solemn event, the entire delegation of the leadership of the International Military Sports Council got acquainted with the facilities of CSKA and attended the trainings of the pupils of the sports schools of the Army Club.

On the football field of KLFK CSKA, the guests played football with young army athletes. We tried our hand at archery and knife throwing halls.

We also talked with representatives of grappling and watched the training of young figure skaters and athletes.

The CISM delegation finished the program of the day in the IC “Igrovoy”, where the preliminary fights of the 58th World Boxing Championship among military personnel started.

The 1st World Cadet Games were held in 2010 in Ankara (Turkey).

The competition was attended by cadets of military institutions from 22 countries of the world.

The II World Cadet Games took place in the Republic of Ecuador (Quito and Salinas) in September 2014. The competition was attended by over 1000 athletes representing the national teams of the Armed Forces of 24 CISM member states.

The result of the II World Cadet Games was a triumphant victory for the Russian national team, which won 40 gold, 19 silver and 12 bronze medals.
