The first military echelon with military equipment and servicemen of the motorized rifle unit of the Eastern Military Circle, stationed in the Republic of Buryatia, crossed the state border of Russia and Mongolia at the railway checkpoint in the village of Naushki to participate in the annual Russian-Mongolian exercise “Selenga-2021”.

The joint Russian-Mongolian military exercise will take place on the territory of Mongolia, at the Doytyn Am training ground in the suburbs of Ulan Bator.

The Selenga exercise is aimed at combating international terrorism. During the exercise, the military personnel of the two countries, using various tactics of modern combat, eliminate conditional illegal armed formations.

Last year, despite the difficult sanitary and epidemiological situation caused by the spread of COVID-19, the joint exercise was first held in a “remote” format, where each side performed tasks at its own training grounds. Then the operational group of military specialists of the Armed Forces of Mongolia arrived in Russia at the Burduny training ground to organize the planning of joint actions and organize interaction between the units.

This year, the international exercise will involve units of a motorized rifle unit of the combined arms army of the Eastern Military District, stationed in the Republic of Buryatia with a total number of over 600 people and more than 100 units of military equipment.
