The signalmen of the combined-arms formation of the Central Military District repelled a simulated enemy’s cyberattack on classified communication channels and provided covert command and control of troops during the exercise in the Kemerovo Region.

According to the plan of the exercise, the simulated enemy attempted a network attack on the secret communication channels for command and control of troops in order to distort and substitute the transmitted information.

During the event, the servicemen organized continuous monitoring of the equipment operability and created a special technological barrier preventing a network attack using the R-160-0.5 communication stations and the P-240I-4 Pereselenets digital communication systems.

Receiving information about the next cyberattack attempt, the operators manually blocked the attacked communication channel and switched to backup wire and satellite communication channels.

In addition, the signalmen ensured the transmission of the video signal between the command posts of the formations and subdivisions of the Central Military District in several regions of Siberia using the R-419 L1 and R-431 AM relay stations.

More than 500 servicemen took part in the exercise, about 30 units of military and special equipment were involved.

The combined arms formation of the Central Military District is deployed in the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Omsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk Regions, Altai Territory and Tuva. It includes motorized rifle, artillery and anti-aircraft missile formations, RChBZ and communications troops.
