Servicemen of the Russian military base in South Ossetia took part in a military parade dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the republic’s founding.

As part of the mechanized column of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District (YuVO) on Teatralnaya Square in Tskhinvali, Grad multiple launch rocket systems, KamAZ trucks with towed guns and armored personnel carriers BTR-80, total about 20 pieces of equipment, passed. About 150 servicemen of the Southern Military District took part in the parade crews.

A military band in the amount of 30 people under the direction of a military conductor provided musical accompaniment for the military parade, including the removal of the state flag of South Ossetia, the greeting of the parade commander, the march of foot and mechanized columns. They performed more than 15 tunes in a marching version, and also staged demonstration performances.

Every year on September 20, South Ossetia celebrates a state holiday – Republic Day. On September 20, 1990, the Council of People’s Deputies of the South Ossetian Autonomous Region proclaimed the South Ossetian Soviet Democratic Republic, on the same day the Declaration of National Sovereignty was adopted.
