At the Yalutorovsk airfield, the Tyumen region championship in parachute jumping for accuracy of landing took place, in which the Alexander Efremov Cup has traditionally been played for two decades.

He was a photojournalist, worked in the Tyumen newspaper “Nashe Vremya”, was fond of parachuting, made more than 40 jumps in the Tyumen flying club. During the second Chechen war, he reported from a “hot spot” and died in May 2000 while on duty.

The opening of the 20th anniversary competition was attended by the daughter of Alexander Efremov – Anna. The military commissar of the city of Yalutorovsk, Yalutorovsky and Isetsky districts Rodion Khabarov presented her with a commemorative medal.

The championship participants were greeted by the chairman of the regional branch of DOSAAF of the Tyumen region Zhaksylyk Shaikenov and Vladimir Sharpatov, the legendary commander of the Il-76 crew, Hero of Russia, who had been in captivity in Afghanistan for over a year.

The main trophy of the championship – the Alexander Efremov Cup – was won by the Vysota team. The second place went to the parachutists of the RPSB team, the third result was shown by the Ural Federal District team. Ekaterina Zhernakova became the champion among juniors, and Evgeny Ivanov won the title of absolute champion. All the strongest participants in the competition were presented with well-deserved awards by the head of the Tyumen Aviation Club DOSAAF Vladimir Paley.
