The crews of heavy transport helicopters Mi-26 of the Army Aviation of the Eastern Military District conducted a cargo delivery exercise.

The flights were carried out with the aim of expanding the possibilities of carrying out the transportation of large-sized and heavy modern equipment. Army aviation crews in the course of a conditional search and rescue operation carried out the delivery of various bulky cargo to hard-to-reach terrain.

The training cargo was transported inside the cargo compartment from a special training ground in the Khabarovsk Territory.

The Mi-26 crews practiced takeoff from the home airfield, flight and landing in the designated area.

The flight-tactical task for each pilot during takeoff was to hold the helicopter at a certain point in space while hovering in the air. The peculiarity of piloting at the same time was the ability to navigate by instruments in poor visibility conditions.

The Mi-26 super-heavy transport helicopter is the largest of the mass-produced helicopters and at the same time the most powerful. The maximum weight that the Mi-26 can lift is 20 tons.

This type of helicopter, which is in service with the aviation of the Eastern Military District, performs the tasks of transporting personnel, cargo, military equipment and weapons over long distances, including to the Arctic zones located at Cape Schmidt and on Wrangel Island.
