On September 20, the Chamber of Deputies (Parliament) of the Lebanese Republic passed a vote of confidence to the government formed a week ago, headed by Prime Minister Najib Mikati. Thus, the government crisis in Lebanon that lasted for 13 months has been overcome.

The programmatic “government statement” presented by N. Mikati to the parliament was supported by the overwhelming majority of the deputies: “for” – 85, “against” – 15. The tasks facing the new Lebanese cabinet are far from simple. It will take a lot of effort from the head of government and ministers to get Lebanon out of the dire financial and economic situation and return the country to normal life. The agenda also includes the creation of conditions for holding the next parliamentary elections on time – in May next year.

Moscow wishes success in the work of the new Lebanese government and counts on the further progressive development of the entire complex of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Lebanon.
