The non-profit organization “Yuri Luzhkov Foundation” made an appeal to rename.

Park “Sadovniki”, located on Andropov Avenue, will be called “Park named after Yu.M. Luzhkov “. The corresponding decree was signed Sergei Sobyanin

The decision to immortalize the name of Yuri Mikhailovich Luzhkov in the name of one of the largest parks in the south of the capital was made on the basis of an appeal by the non-profit organization Yuri Luzhkov Foundation. The initiators will undertake part of the park improvement work.

Gardeners Park was opened in 1989. It was updated in 2014; during the work, the opinion of local residents was taken into account. The park has a dry fountain, playgrounds for sports, an open stage with a dance floor, children’s playgrounds, bike rentals, a walking and training area for dogs. Also in “Sadovniki” they equipped a skate park and a bike path.

In 2005, the Riga Garden appeared in the park – a green area created as a sign of friendly relations between Moscow and the capital of Latvia. Latvian architects made the garden a reflection of the city plan of old Riga.

For 10 years, 886 park areas with a total area of more than 19.5 thousand hectares have been landscaped in the city. The plans for 2022 are to put in order more than 100 iconic objects, parks and green areas.
