At the World Climbing and Paraclimbing Championships, which takes place in Moscow, army athlete Yulia Kaplina won a silver medal in women’s speed climbing.

In the first races of the final part of the tournament, Julia first outstripped German Franciska Ritter, then Polish Anna Brozhek. In the semifinals, Yulia overtook her compatriot 2020 European champion in speed, Ekaterina Barashchuk. Julia won with a score of 7.09 seconds.

In the final, Kaplina opposed the Polish woman Natalya Kalutska. Having made a mistake, the army athlete became the vice-champion of the home tournament. For the Polish woman, this is her debut podium at the World Championships, and Yulia has already won a silver medal in 2012, and a bronze medal in 2016.

The CSKA athlete entered the start with injuries accumulated as a result of preparations for the Olympic Games. It was certainly not easy for her to perform with them, but there was no time to heal them.

The third place in this discipline at the 2021 World Cup was taken by Alexandra Miroslav.
