In accordance with the plan of navigation and hydrographic support, the crews of the vessels of the hydrographic service of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL) began the final stage of work on preparation for winter navigation.

From March to September this year, in the course of work on navigation safety and hydrographic support of the northern and central parts of the Caspian Sea, hydrographs traveled over 10 thousand nautical miles.

The complex of navigation works in the Caspian Sea and in the water area of ​​the Volga-Caspian shipping canal is carried out by specialists-hydrographs of the flotilla annually in order to ensure the safety of navigation of the warships of the fleet association, as well as civilian shipping.

Hydrographic work is carried out using modern instruments and hardware and software systems. In the course of the planned activities, observations of the level of the Volga-Caspian sea shipping channel, areal and sonar survey of the seabed topography were carried out, and the current velocity was measured.

Upon completion of the processing of the research results, materials and proposals will be prepared for Russian organizations for the correction of navigation charts.

In total, about 10 hydrographic vessels and boats from the flotilla’s hydrographic service are involved in the Caspian Sea. Among them are the vessels and boats “Anatoly Guzhvin”, “GS-194”, “GS-202”, “BGK-2090”.
