It should be noted that Russia already supplies beef to China, but the signed document, according to the Rosselkhoznadzor, will expand the trade opportunities of domestic exporters.

“This is a very important step towards developing trade with China. The fact is that the Chinese side attaches great importance to the signing of such documents for all types of products, and this significantly expands our trade opportunities and demonstrates China’s confidence in the safety control system of Russian products. The protocol also expanded the list of beef offal that Russian enterprises can supply to the Chinese market. In addition, we hope that the approval of the protocol will allow us to more quickly expand the list of supplier companies and increase the volume of supplied products from cattle meat, ”the press service of the Rosselkhoznadzor told Veterinary and Life.

Now two Russian companies supply beef to China. We are talking about frozen and chilled products, as well as beef offal. According to the Rosselkhoznadzor system “Argus”, from the beginning of the year to September 12, 13.3 thousand tons of this meat were shipped to China (for the same period of 2020 – 4.6 thousand tons). In general, the Russian export of beef, as of September 12, amounted to 20.7 thousand tons.

According to the estimates of the Federal Center for the Development of Export of Agricultural Products of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation (Agroexport), Russia may increase the supply of beef to China. The reason is the restriction of the import of this meat into the PRC from Brazil after two cases of atypical mad cow disease were detected in this country.

The Rosselkhoznadzor explained that the protocol signed with China contains epizootic conditions for the territory from which the products are supplied, as well as specific conditions for production processes, regulates the requirements for external and internal packaging of goods, labeling and their certification.

“Thus, each batch of meat products intended for export to China must be accompanied by the original official veterinary certificate in Russian and Chinese, the form of which has also already been agreed upon by the parties,” the department said.

Service representatives recalled that enterprises wishing to supply beef to China must be entered in the register of exporters of the Rosselkhoznadzor information system “Cerberus” for China, and also registered by the competent authority of this country – the General Customs Administration. Lists of Russian enterprises will be posted on the websites of the competent authorities of the two countries.
