A children’s technopark “Moscow Transport”, created on the basis of the Russian University of Transport (MIIT), has started operating in the capital.

Children’s Technopark “Moscow Transport” is located in a historic building at the address: Obraztsova street, house 9, building 2. It has a separate entrance, and the area is 1076 square meters. In the design of the premises, the symbols of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and design elements of Moscow transport were used.
The children’s technopark will be attended by talented schoolchildren and college students aged 12 to 18 years. The main task is to stimulate their interest in engineering creativity and attract them to work in the transport industry.
Teens will have access to such training areas as GIS technologies, BIM technologies, the creation of intelligent transport systems, VR and AR technologies, the basics of design and 3D design, additive technologies in design and production.
The training programs are selected taking into account the modern needs of the transport industry, and are also related to the areas of training of students of the Russian University of Transport.
The technopark’s partner is Russian Railways, potential partners are Transmashholding JSC, 2050.LAB LLC, BP Concept LLC, as well as the organization of the Moscow transport complex: Moscow Metro, TsODD, MosTransProekt.
Laboratories and IT class: where the participants will study
Four laboratories were equipped in the children’s technopark.
In the industrial design laboratory, the guys will follow the path of creating a transport from an idea to a prototype of a product. In theoretical and practical classes, schoolchildren will be taught to analyze consumer properties, value and design solutions, as well as track trends and technologies for designing case products.
In addition, the participants will work on their own design projects for the development and prototyping of elements of public transport, vehicles or transport infrastructure objects.
Training in the laboratory of smart technologies in transport includes three interrelated areas – infrastructure information modeling (IM) technologies, traffic modeling technologies for flows in agglomerations, autonomous driving and traffic control technologies.
Here, the guys will create digital models of transport infrastructure facilities using advanced domestic and foreign software systems, as well as 3D printing, virtual and augmented reality technologies.
In the VR / AR laboratory, students will be able to study programs related to computer vision technologies and 3D modeling.
On the special simulators installed here, you can try yourself in the role of employees of the transport complex, for example, a station attendant.
The training programs in the water transport laboratory take into account new trends and relevant skills for the technological development of the industry.
For example, the course “Aquatic Robotics” provides knowledge in the field of ship modeling, robotics, electronics, design and programming with an emphasis on unmanned navigation technologies.
Children will be able to master basic skills in the field of information technology in a modern IT class – this is programming, microelectronics, network technologies, electronic databases.
In addition, the children’s technopark has a lecture hall for 100 seats.
In the first half of the day, “Moscow Transport” will conduct educational programs for schoolchildren within the framework of the “Study Day in the Technopark” project. After lunch, lectures, workshops and classes within the framework of long-term educational programs for students begin here, as well as work on projects.
More than 9,400 schoolchildren are expected to visit the Moscow Transport children’s technopark every year.
The best graduates will receive up to 10 additional USE points upon admission to the Russian University of Transport.
The city allocated a grant of 36 million rubles to MIIT to create a children’s technopark.
Moscow Transport is one of the joint projects of the Moscow Government and the Russian University of Transport, which celebrates its 125th anniversary this year.
The research and educational potential of the university was in demand in the implementation of the projects of the Moscow Central Ring and Moscow Central Diameters.
Graduates of the university play an important role in ensuring the operation of the Moscow metro, making a great contribution to the design, construction and operation of transport infrastructure facilities in the region.
More than four thousand graduates of the Russian University of Transport currently work in the transport complex of Moscow.
41 directions, 88 laboratories, 344 thousand visitors: the results of five years of development
The first children’s technopark was opened in the capital in 2016 at Mosgormash. According to Sergei Sobyanin, today there are already 18 such sites. They operate on the basis of leading Moscow universities and research centers.
“Over the years, about 350 thousand children have already been trained in these technoparks, many of them have acquired engineering skills, many have entered federal universities, including Baumanka, and Moscow State University, and other leading institutes. Many of them are still studying in schools, but the unique modern skills that children acquire in these technoparks will, of course, remain for the rest of their lives and will instill in them an interest in science, technology, and the latest technologies, ”the Moscow Mayor emphasized.
Among the educational partners – 41 universities, including the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman, Moscow Aviation Institute, Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology, Russian State Social University, Moscow University of Finance and Law, Russian Technological University (RTU MIREA), Russian University of Chemical Technology named after D.I. Mendeleev and others.
Industrial partners of children’s technology parks include more than 170 large high-tech companies: Russian Railways, Rosatom, Rostelecom, Kaspersky Lab, VEB, CROC, RSK MiG, Nuclear Medicine Development Center, Matreshka, Neurobotics, BMW Group, Mind Italia, HTC, Lego Education, Kuka Robotics and others
There are 88 laboratories in children’s technoparks equipped with modern educational, research and production equipment.
Training is conducted in 350 programs in 41 areas, including robotics, VR / AR, astronautics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, auto modeling, aeromodelling, geoinformatics, industrial design, and 3D technologies.
The target audience of children’s technoparks is seventh-ninth grade schoolchildren and college students. All of them receive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of research and development in the main engineering specialties. The guys are trained on modern equipment and carry out the first independent research projects under the guidance of experienced mentors. Lectures, seminars and master classes in children’s technoparks stimulate interest in scientific, engineering and technical creativity.
Over the five years of the existence of such educational sites, 344 thousand students have become their listeners. Including 39 164 people were engaged in long-term training programs, and 21 083 schoolchildren became participants of the action “Training day in the technopark”.
On the electronic platform technopark-kids.ru more than 181 thousand unique visitors were registered and 2,868 events were held, which was especially important during the period of epidemiological restrictions on the activities of children’s technoparks.
This year, more than a thousand listeners became winners and prize-winners of All-Russian Olympiads and competitions.
7,800 graduates of children’s technoparks entered technical universities, and the best of them received 10 additional points to the Unified State Exam.
There is also a program of deferred employment: graduates of technoparks can conclude an employment contract with high-tech enterprises even before graduating from a university, and start work after receiving a diploma. This is the actual guarantee of employment in the labor market in the specialty. Until graduation, students can maintain contacts with the future employer and participate in his projects. More than 570 deferred employment contracts have already been concluded.
