Artillery and motorized rifle units of the Central Military District, during exercises at the Kara-Khaak training ground in Tuva, worked out the destruction of a simulated enemy in mountainous terrain using self-propelled artillery installations (ACS) 2S23 “Nona-SVK”.

According to the plan of the exercise, during aerial reconnaissance in mountainous terrain, the Orlan-10 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) revealed the movement of a column of modernized cross-country vehicles equipped with machine guns, turrets and mortars. To defeat the enemy, artillery crews of the ACS 2S23 “Nona-SVK” were involved. When the enemy approached at a distance of 10 km, the servicemen opened fire on the enemy from 120-mm artillery mounts from closed firing positions. Further, to search for and destroy scattered groups of the enemy, motorized rifle units were involved, which in armored Tiger vehicles moved into the area and destroyed the simulated enemy from the standard armament of AK-74 assault rifles, PK machine guns and RPG-7V hand grenade launchers.

More than 300 servicemen and about 50 units of military and special equipment were involved in the exercise.

The combined arms formation of the Central Military District is deployed in the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Omsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk regions, Altai Territory and the Republic of Tyva. It includes motorized rifle, artillery and anti-aircraft missile formations, RChBZ and communications troops.
