In St. Petersburg, pilots of the helicopter regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Western Military District prepared an excursion program for children – patients of the Children’s Hospice in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.

The pilots familiarized children and their parents with aviation and automobile equipment, flight support technology, showed small arms and missile and cannon weapons, aviation weapons used on reconnaissance and attack helicopters Mi-28 “Night Hunter” and Mi-35.

The most important episode of the excursion for children was a flight aboard a Mi-8 multipurpose helicopter under the control of 1st class pilot Lt. Col. Mikhail Obukhov.

“This is the first time such an action is being held at our airfield. We are honored to fulfill the boys’ dream of flying a military helicopter. I understand how important it is for them, ”said Lieutenant Colonel Mikhail Obukhov.

The St. Petersburg Children’s Hospice, founded by Archpriest Alexander Tkachenko in 2003, provides palliative care to children with incurable diseases.
