At the Sosnovy training range, servicemen of a separate guards airborne assault unit stationed in the city of Ulan-Ude (Republic of Buryatia) performed live firing as part of platoons. Their goal was to achieve maximum personnel coordination in the performance of combat missions.

Immediately before the start of the combat training event, the unit commanders were given classes on the specifics of organizing combat firing of platoons.

Then the servicemen completed training for practical firing and worked out: maintaining order of battle during an attack on BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, capturing enemy firing positions and holding them until the arrival of the main forces of the compound, as well as controlling a subordinate unit and means of reinforcement. During the event, the paratroopers fired from the standard armament of infantry fighting vehicles, small arms and grenade launchers on the move at emerging targets at a distance of up to 1200 m.

To create a situation as close as possible to a combat, static and dynamic targets of various types, modular complexes of shooting equipment were used.

In total, about 100 servicemen and about 20 units of combat and special equipment of the airborne assault battalion of a separate guards airborne assault formation from Ulan-Ude were involved in the combat firing of the platoons.
