In Mongolia, at the Doityn Am training ground, the opening of the joint Russian-Mongolian exercise Selenga-2021 took place.
At the opening ceremony, national flags were raised and the anthems of both countries participating in the exercise were performed. Deputy Minister of Defense of Mongolia B. Bayarmagnai noted that the tasks set for the participants of the exercise on organizing joint counter-terrorist actions aimed at expanding military cooperation between the two countries will undoubtedly be achieved.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia Iskander Azizov, Deputy Commander of the Eastern Military District, Lieutenant General Mikhail Nosulev, Head of the exercise Major General Igor Timofeev and other honored guests who took part in the opening ceremony, wished good luck and success to the personnel in carrying out joint combat training missions. After the ceremonial part, the headquarters of the leadership of the exercises began to jointly plan the actions of the troops.
The joint tactical exercise is aimed at combating international terrorism and is being held on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Mongolian Armed Forces and on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Mongolia.
In the city of Dzuunmod (Central aimak, Mongolia), near the Doytyn Am training ground, a rich program of celebrations has been planned with the participation of creative teams from Russia and Mongolia, as well as military personnel of the two countries.
This year, servicemen of a motorized rifle unit of the combined-arms army of the Eastern Military District stationed in the Republic of Buryatia and units of the Mongolian Armed Forces with a total strength of about 1.4 thousand people and more than 200 units of military equipment are involved in the international exercise.
