Rescuers of the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue team of the EMERCOM of Russia, who participated in the rescue operations on Mount Elbrus, will be nominated for state and departmental awards.

The signal about the incident was received on the evening of September 23rd. On Mount Elbrus, at an altitude of 5.4 thousand meters, a group of 19 climbers asked for help due to worsening weather conditions. Rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry promptly came to the rescue. The specialists worked in the most difficult conditions: wind gusts reached 40-70 m / s at an air temperature of -20 ° C and sleet, visibility did not exceed 1 meter.

During the search and rescue operation of a group of climbers on Mount Elbrus, 14 people were saved. Unfortunately, 5 people died.

In total, 69 specialists and 16 pieces of equipment took part in the search.
