Marine units of the Caspian Flotilla (CFL), together with motorized rifle units of the 58th Army of the Southern Military District (YuVO), will be involved in a tactical research exercise using tactical groups of combat arms in the Rostov region.

During the exercise, battalion tactical groups of the Marine Corps of the KFL, tank and motorized rifle subunits of the Southern Military District, reinforced by specialists from various combat arms, will work out combat training tasks of maneuverable defense, as well as tactical techniques and methods of offensive in day and night conditions with live fire.

Within the framework of the research theme, laid down in the concept of the tactical exercise, the marines will use non-standard methods, practical actions, as well as the creation of new elements of battle order, which will significantly increase the component of the services and combat arms in the exercise.

Marine units as part of battalion tactical groups will work out tasks when going over to the offensive in conditions of contact with the “enemy”, land tactical airborne assault forces behind the lines of a defending simulated enemy and go over to the defense in a wide area in conditions of the use of attack unmanned aerial vehicles by the enemy.

Fire engagement of the group is organized in the systems of reconnaissance and fire complexes using modern armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, attached to mortar and artillery units. For the purpose of interspecific interaction from the association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District, planes and helicopters of the army and operational-tactical aviation will be involved.

In total, over 600 servicemen of the KFL marines will take part in the exercise, about 150 units of weapons, military and special equipment will be involved.

Bilateral battalion and regimental tactical exercises in the Southern Military District are held simultaneously at four training grounds in the district in the Rostov region, South Ossetia, the Chechen Republic and Crimea. About 10 thousand servicemen take part in them, about 800 pieces of weapons and equipment are involved, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and multiple launch rocket systems. For the purpose of interspecific interaction, more than 40 aircraft and helicopters of army and operational-tactical aviation have been attracted from the association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District.
