Employees of the Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Defense (for organizing and conducting military memorial work abroad) in Slovakia took part in the inauguration of the monument to the commander of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Marshal Rodion Yakovlevich Malinovsky. The monument was erected in the village of Stary Tekov in the Nitra region as part of the events dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Slovakia from fascism.

On September 20, 1944, the Red Army crossed the border of Czechoslovakia, heavy and bloody battles for its liberation continued for eight months, and on April 4, 1945, Soviet troops under the command of R.Y. Malinovsky liberated the capital of Slovakia – Bratislava.

The citizens of the Slovak Republic with deep respect and gratitude honor the memory of the soldiers and officers of the Red Army, who gave tens of thousands of their lives for its deliverance from the “brown plague” of the 20th century – Nazism. The monument to the Soviet legendary Soviet marshal was erected on their initiative and at the expense of personal funds.
