The student search squad of the South Ural State University “Poisk”, which includes cadets of the military training center, solemnly donated a capsule with earth from the Piskarevsky Memorial Cemetery of the defenders of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War to the SUSU History Museum. The land from the hero-city will be kept in the university museum next to the exhibits brought by the fighters of the student search detachment from the battlefields in the Kirovsky district of the Leningrad region, where they were excavating.

The event is timed to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the blockade of the city of Leningrad, on the eve of the 77th anniversary of the establishment of the military training center at SUSU.

Also, members of the regional Council of Veterans were present at the capsule transfer ceremony. The capsule was accepted by the blockade woman and the chairman of the Council of Veterans of the University, Nadezhda Kuzmina.

Nadezhda Dmitrievna told the meeting participants about life during the siege of Leningrad, about how Leningraders coped with difficulties, about the contribution of Leningraders to the formation and work of the legendary Tankograd, about the history that unites the fate of the city of labor valor of Chelyabinsk and the city of Hero of Leningrad, about the connection of Leningraders with the university.

The project “Leningrad-Tankograd. The road, threads and lines of life “serves to perpetuate the memory of Leningraders who were evacuated from the besieged city on the Neva to Chelyabinsk, who worked at the legendary Tankograd, with their selfless labor, who won the Great Victory and who lived their lives in the South Urals.
