The largest tournament among the universities of the Ministry of Defense gathered 14 strongest teams in the Russian south. Petersburgers for the third time became the owners of the honorary cup, while for the first time under the leadership of a new mentor Oleg Lebedev. The sportsmen were awarded medals and prizes by the head of the Black Sea Higher Naval School named after P.S. “Pay attention, the level of competition in Sevastopol is going up: in 2019, the Cup of the Black Sea Fleet Commander was adopted here, in 2020, despite the pandemic, the Cup of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, and in 2021 we played the Cup of the Armed Forces here. Everything goes to international competitions! We are immensely grateful to the Governor of Sevastopol and the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet – it is thanks to them that Sevastopol can rightfully claim the title of the main city of military rugby in our country! The largest competitions among the teams of the Ministry of Defense have been held here for 3 years in a row, the apogee of which is the Cup of the Armed Forces. This year 32 teams took part in the draw, next year we plan to expand the tournament to 50 teams. Moreover, we will transfer the Cup to the autumn-spring system, so that it coincides with the academic year of the cadets, and they can go through the full cycle of the tournament, ”Alexey Mitryushin commented on the organization of the tournament in Sevastopol.
