The legendary commander of the 6th company of the 2nd battalion of the 104th Guards Parachute Regiment of the 76th Guards Airborne Division (Pskov) Major Sergei Molodov, who died heroically in the battle at height 776 in the Shatoy region of the Chechen Republic, will have a monument in the Shagol village of the Chelyabinsk Republic area. The monument will be installed in early October 2021.

The place for the installation of the monument was not chosen by chance, since 1970 Major Sergei Molodov lived with his parents in Chelyabinsk. Molodov’s life was inextricably linked with the army. He was born into a military family in Kutaisi (Georgian SSR). In 1983 he was called up for military service in the Airborne Forces as part of the group of Soviet forces in Germany. Then he graduated from the Ryazan Higher Airborne Command School named after the Lenin Komsomol, and then left for service in Turkmenistan, several times participated in peacekeeping operations in Baku, Osh, Uzgen, Nagorno-Karabakh, and also took part in the restoration of constitutional order in the Chechen Republic.

The event will be attended by relatives of the hero of the Russian Federation, representatives of the military commissariat, military personnel of the air force and air defense of the Central Military District, public figures and youth soldiers.
