Residents of the capital provide children with all-round assistance, as well as conduct master classes, excursions and lectures.
A unique social project “Let’s be friends!” one year old. During this time, more than 85 events were held for children, said the head of the capital Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Evgeniy Struzhak…
“These are various master classes aimed at professional self-determination, and cognitive meetings with famous people who told their success stories. Many residents of the city held individual meetings with the children, organizing for them the fulfillment of various desires. And what is even more important – about 500 Muscovites responded to the project and many of them wanted to become mentors for children left without parents, ”he said.
“Let’s be friends!” conceived for children who have lost parental care and living in urban institutions. Also, a social project is provided for wards of family and rehabilitation centers and young adults with disabilities who are in the center of accompanied residence.
Over the year, over 600 children and young people with disabilities were able to participate in the project. He was joined by non-profit organizations that run free creative and educational classes. Star mentors recorded 18 video messages for the children with good advice and wishes.
Participants on the project page share their stories, hobbies and cherished desires. Any resident of the city can respond to the questionnaire and fulfill the dream of a child or young person with disabilities, and most importantly, spend time with him and, possibly, think about social mentoring on an ongoing basis.
So, in April, the Russian musician Burito met with the pupils of the center for promoting family education “Kakhovskie camomiles” and talked with them about music. Thanks to the project, 20-year-old Natasha took a ride on a sports plane with her friend, 19-year-old Dmitry learned how to prepare a passenger plane for departure, and later, together with an instructor, jumped with a parachute.
Masha from the accompanied accommodation center has long dreamed of meeting a real chef and cooking an original dish with him. The cherished desire was fulfilled by the famous in Russia Italian chef Mirko Dzaga, who gave the girl a master class on making spaghetti and introduced her to the work of the kitchen in Moscow restaurants.
The main partner of the project is the Older Brothers Older Sisters Foundation. On their site, social mentors are trained on a long-term basis. In the classroom, NGO experts tell the audience about the psychological characteristics of working with orphans, help to understand the legal aspects and share the secrets of the behavioral characteristics of future wards.
“55 people came to our fund to find out more, pass an interview, ask their questions in a personal conversation with the project’s psychologists. 22 people have completed a full two-day training course, and six of them have already become mentors, we actively support them. The rest either make the final decision after training, or wait until a “junior” is selected for them. We consider these results to be very good! In our experience, the number of responses for such a complex program is very large, and many people are seriously thinking about becoming a mentor for an orphan child, ”said Nina Vorontsova, director of the Big Brothers, Senior Sisters Foundation.
In the future, volunteer mentors meet with the wards every week and spend several hours talking, walking, playing, doing something interesting.
Other non-profit organizations have also become interested in the project. For example, the charity organization “Maria Mama” has launched a career guidance mentoring project “School of Safety for Children”. The Center for Recreational Riding “Neskuchnaya Fizkultura” initiated the creation of the “School for a Young Horse Breeder” for children from family centers: they can master the profession of a jockey, learn how to handle horses, take care of them. The public movement “Dogs give warmth” organized communication with therapy dogs.
