At the direction of the commander-in-chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Evmenov, cadets of the Naval Polytechnic Institute of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Navy under the leadership of the head of the institute, Captain 1st Rank Andrei Klimenko, took part in the consecration of the veneration cross for the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God “The Redeemer”. The solemn ceremony was conducted by the rector of St. Sophia Cathedral, Archpriest Gennady Zverev in the city of Pushkin.

The construction of the temple complex of the icon of the Mother of God “The Deliverer” is planned to begin in the near future at the Pulkovo border, which is of key importance in the heroic defense of Leningrad during the Great Patriotic War.

As conceived by the creators, the temple complex will become not only the spiritual center of the city of Pushkin, a symbol of military glory, a memorial to the memory of the defenders of Leningrad, but also another point of attraction for the townspeople and guests of St. Petersburg.

“The participation of the VMPI cadets in such events as the consecration of the worship cross of the future temple complex is of great importance for their spiritual and moral education. Such events help us prepare future officers as true patriots. A reverent, respectful attitude to the memory of the soldiers who fell in battles for the Motherland is an indicator of the maturity of a worthy citizen of their country! ” – noted in his speech the head of the institute, captain 1st rank Andrei Klimenko.
