In the skies over the Crimea, young pilots of the fighter aviation regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Southern Military District performed their first flights as crew commanders, accompanied by instructor pilots, on two-seat Su-27UB combat training fighters.

During planned training flights, young officers for the first time flew combat fighters independently under the supervision of experienced pilots.

The pilots worked out the elements of simple aerobatics, independently made takeoffs and landings, and also performed the “interrupted approach” exercise, during which the fighter, after touching the landing gear of the runway with the afterburner turned on, goes into the sky.

20 young pilots took part in training flights. After passing the tests, the instructors assigned to each pilot will give their recommendations for admission to independent flights, and future air aces will begin to perform tasks as intended on the Su-27.

In total, 3 Su-27UB combat training fighters were involved in the training.
