Metropolitan art schools have prepared a special program for the International Day of Music, which is celebrated on October 1. As reported Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, more than 20 events are planned.
“A festive concert program awaits residents of different districts of Moscow. Students, teachers and graduates of art schools will perform works by domestic and foreign composers. Some institutions will also hold thematic lectures, ”noted Natalya Sergunina.
In the small hall children’s art school named after I.F. Stravinsky(Mitinskaya street, house 47, building 1) a concert will be held for pupils of preschool institutions of the Mitino district. The presenter – a teacher of musical folklore Lilia Tsvetkova – will tell the history of the emergence of musical instruments, and at the end of the event, they will hold a blitz-quiz for young spectators. Beginning at 11:00. At the same time, on the stage of the concert hall children’s music school named after A.B. Goldenweiser(Akademika Volgin street, 17a) teachers of the institution will come out. They will perform a jazz version of the Bremen Town Musicians cartoon medley.
V children’s music school named after G.G. Neuhaus(Mikhailova street, building 20, building 2) a concert of students, teachers and graduates of the school will take place. Teachers – students of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky – will present Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s overture from The Magic Flute (arranged for organ and piano by Scott Joplin). Participants of the second round of the competition for grants from the Mayor of Moscow in the field of art will also show their skills. Beginning at 18:00.
The Russian State Children’s Library (Kaluzhskaya Square, Building 1, Building 1) at the same time will host a concert “Music – Poetry of Air” by students children’s music school named after V.A. Mozart… The program includes “Contentment with Destiny” by Joseph Haydn, “The Heart of a Poet” by Edvard Grieg, Prelude Op. 30 No. 10 by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Papageno’s aria from the opera Die Zauberflöte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, waltz from the film Amelie by Jan Thiersen, How Insensitively by Antonio Jobim.

The program includes Pablo de Sarasate’s Concert Fantasy on the themes of Georges Bizet’s opera “Carmen”, the play “Hello Love” by Eduard Elgar, the finale of the concert-symphony for balalaika with the orchestra “Village Holiday” by Alexander Tsygankov, the duet “Vanka-Tanka” by Alexander Dargomyzhsky and many other interesting and bright music.
Children’s Music School named after N.S. Golovanov (Mnevniki street, house 7, building 1) prepared a festive concert “Let’s fill our hearts with music”. It will start at 19:00. Guests will hear Bach’s Ave Maria – Gounod arranged for an instrumental trio – cello, violin, piano. In addition, contemporary popular music and a medley on the themes of famous songs about the capital “My Moscow” will be performed.
