Enterprises of the capital show confident growth in many sectors – from light industry to pharmaceutical production.

Since the beginning of the year, the volume of industrial production in Moscow has grown by 24.3 percent. This is due to the stable development of the chemical and food industries, as well as high growth rates in the production of paper, textiles and electrical equipment.

“For eight months of this year, the volume of industrial production in Moscow increased by 24.3 percent compared to the same period in 2020, and in the country as a whole, this figure increased by 4.5 percent. This dynamics is mainly due to the growth of the manufacturing industry in the capital – the industry increased by 25.1 percent. Moscow enterprises have shown steady growth since the beginning of the year in many industries: food, household chemicals, clothing and medicines, telecommunications products are in demand, ”said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations

Vladimir Efimov.

The most significant changes are in the light industry. Compared to the same period last year, indicators in the production of textiles increased by 2.1 times. The production of clothing increased by 41.5 percent. Now there are several large factories in the city, which create textiles and clothing for civilian use, as well as products for the needs of government services.

The production of paper and paper products continues to grow. It was provoked by the fact that sales volumes shifted to the online segment due to the development of delivery services, the use of cardboard packaging instead of plastic. The output of such products increased by 95 percent.

The production of electrical equipment continues to grow at a high rate. This is due to the fact that mobile operators are actively updating their information infrastructure. Growth was also driven by the expansion of data centers in the metropolitan area. The output of such products increased by 77.7 percent.

“Good dynamics is also observed in the food industry: food production in January-August increased by 28.2 percent. This is primarily due to an increase in the production of semi-finished meat products and flour confectionery products of short storage. Traditionally, significant growth has been observed in the production of chemicals and products: due to an increase in the production of detergents, cleaning and polishing products, shaving products, deodorants and skin care products, the segment grew by 41.6 percent, “said the head

Department of Investment and Industrial Policy of Moscow Alexander Prokhorov.

In addition, the production of medicines and materials used for medical purposes increased by 37.3 percent.
