On September 28, in the capital of the Tula Region, on one of the tallest buildings, the EMERCOM of Russia competition “Vertical Challenge” took place. More than a hundred people from among the rescuers and residents of the city took part in the competition. All those wishing to test their strength had to overcome more than 400 steps as quickly as possible and climb to the 22nd floor in the combat gear of firefighters.
Aleksey Pavlov, the head of the Main Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Tula Region, who opened the ceremony, wished all the participants of the competition good luck, success and a worthy overcoming of all today’s difficult trials.
The “Vertical Challenge” competition is being held in the Tula region for the first time. The format of the competition is an urgent way to draw public attention to the importance of rescue work, to show how difficult and dangerous the profession of a firefighter-rescuer is, to demonstrate the challenges that firefighters have to face every day, requiring extreme physical efforts.
According to the results of the competition among professionals, the victory was won by Danila Stepanov – master fireman of the Special Directorate of the Federal Fire Service No. 88 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, 2nd place was taken by Alexey Aleshin – a representative of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation, 3rd place – Dmitry Medzhidov – Chief of the Guard 30 of the fire and rescue unit 4 fire department – rescue squad.
Among amateurs, Daniil Ivashkin took 1st place, Olga Chugreeva took 2nd place, Alina Khalzina took 3rd place.
In addition to the main competition site, an exhibition of fire and rescue equipment and equipment, as well as a field kitchen of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, where rescuers treated participants and guests to hot tea and porridge, was open for all guests.
