Servicemen of the motorized rifle unit of the Central Military District (CVD) during an exercise at the Kara-Khaak training ground thwarted an offensive of a simulated enemy in the foothills of the Western Sayan.

According to the plan of the exercise, the military personnel of the reconnaissance unit, in cooperation with the Orlan-10 UAV crew, revealed the movement of a simulated enemy, which was marching along a mountain gorge to bypass the defending troops from the flank. To disrupt his offensive, the command involved mobile tactical groups, which included motorized riflemen, snipers, engineers, and UAV crews.

Upon arrival in the designated area, the servicemen ambushed the convoy’s route and mined a section of the road using a mine barrier. In addition, camouflaged firing positions were prepared for sniper pairs and grenade launcher crews. Upon the arrival of the mock enemy, the servicemen detonated the lead vehicle in the convoy and liquidated the enemy with heavy fire from all types of small arms. The “enemy” equipment was destroyed by RPG-7V grenade launchers.

Over 500 servicemen and about 100 units of military and special equipment were involved in the exercise at the Kara-Khaak training ground.

The combined arms formation of the Central Military District is deployed in the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Omsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk regions, Altai Territory and the Republic of Tyva. It includes motorized rifle, artillery and anti-aircraft missile formations, RChBZ and communications troops.
