The base minesweepers of the formation of the water area guard ships of the Baltic naval base of the Baltic Fleet “Alexander Obukhov” and “Leonid Sobolev” returned to their permanent base in Baltiysk after completing their planned tasks in the water area of the Gulf of Finland.

On the shore, the crews of the ships were met by the acting commander of the Baltic naval base, Captain 1st Rank Sergei Volkov, who received the report of the senior cruise of Captain 2nd Rank Valentin Isupov on the successful completion of the combat mission.

During the exit to the sea, the crews of the basic minesweepers of the Baltic Fleet performed tasks to eliminate the residual mine hazard in one of the areas of the Gulf of Finland.

The crews of the ships, using standard equipment, discovered about 20 galvanic impact anchor and bottom magnetic mines during the Great Patriotic War, which were later destroyed by detonation right on the spot.

Most of the dangerous finds were found and destroyed with the help of the latest equipment installed on the base minesweeper “Alexander Obukhov” – the hydroacoustic station “Alexandrite”, the remote-controlled device “Sea Scan” and one of the self-propelled remote-controlled vehicles on the ship.

The tasks of detecting and neutralizing explosives for the crews of mine-sweeping ships of the Baltic Fleet are planned and are carried out in the areas of intense naval battles of the Second World War in the Baltic Sea.
