The combat crews of the air defense of the combined arms army of the Western Military District, stationed in the Kursk, Voronezh and Smolensk regions, began to conduct large-scale exercises at the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region.

During the exercise, air defense specialists will work out about 50 introductory tasks to cover ground forces from aviation and missile attacks from a simulated enemy in various conditions. The servicemen will confront the “enemy” in the conditions of the use of electronic suppression, weapons of mass destruction, as well as a massive airstrike against targets.

The main task of the exercise will be the coordination of units from different garrisons, their synchronous work, as well as honing the skills of shooting at targets at high altitudes and performing high-speed anti-missile maneuvers.

The departure of servicemen to the Kapustin Yar training ground was organized by rail and took place at several loading stations at once. In total, more than 500 air defense specialists of the combined arms army of the Western Military District are involved in the exercise, about 200 armored vehicles are involved, such as the Tor-M1, Buk-M3 and Osa anti-aircraft missile systems.
