Ships and vessels of the Arctic group of the Northern Fleet under the command of Deputy Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Oleg Golubev in the Laptev Sea worked out the landing of amphibious assault forces on the unequipped coast of Yakutia near the village of Tiksi.
The exercise took place in difficult hydrometeorological conditions with low air temperatures and gusty winds. It involved the crew of the large landing ship “George the Victorious”, personnel and equipment of the Marine Corps.
Immediately after practicing tactical actions on the coast, the Severomors loaded the equipment onto the ship and went to sea.
At present, a detachment of ships and vessels of the Arctic group, led by the flagship, the Severomorsk, are moving along the route of the Northern Sea Route in a westerly direction and are preparing for the passage of ice-prone areas.
On the way to the Kara Sea, the Severomors will work out several more exercises to ensure the safety of navigation in the Arctic.
Last week, the Arctic group under the command of Vice-Admiral Oleg Golubev, Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet, conducted a tactical exercise to defend the Russian insular territories in the Arctic on the Novosibirsk Islands archipelago.
The tenth Arctic cruise of the Northern Fleet surface forces began on August 10 with the exit from the main base of the Northern Fleet in the city of Severomorsk. The cruise takes place under the flag of Vice-Admiral Oleg Golubev, Deputy Commander of the Northern Fleet. During the Arctic cruise, ships and support vessels of the Northern Fleet have covered more than 9 thousand nautical miles, conducted a number of exercises in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, as well as in the port of Dudinka.
The completion of the tenth Arctic cruise and the arrival of the crews at the permanent bases is planned in the first half of October.
