At the Opuk training ground in Crimea, the final stage of a tactical exercise with the Guards airborne assault and artillery regiments of the Novorossiysk Guards airborne assault mountain formation of the Airborne Forces took place.

Servicemen of airborne assault battalions on standard equipment, using the armament of BMD-4M, BMD-2K-AU and BTR-MDM “Shell” combat vehicles, with the support of tank and artillery units, worked out offensive actions, defeating a conditional enemy with fire from T- tanks 72B3, as well as 120-mm self-propelled artillery guns 2S9 “Nona-S” and 122-mm howitzers D-30. The offensive was carried out in conditions of active use of UAVs by the enemy.

The actions of the paratroopers were watched by the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Yunus-Bek Yevkurov.

He appreciated the competent management of the commanders of subordinate units on the battlefield in the squad-platoon-company link and the coordinated actions of the servicemen.

The deputy minister especially noted the desire of the commanders to use in the exercise the experience of modern local wars and armed conflicts, as well as new approaches in the fight against UAVs and low-flying targets of the enemy.

“At this exercise, I would like to note the actions of the so-called mobile groups to combat UAVs, the actions of small tactical groups and the fire control process. It can be seen that during the preparation for the exercise the commanders paid special attention to these issues, ”Yunus-Bek Yevkurov said.

To work out the issues included in the doctrine, a complex, rapidly changing environment was created, which is characteristic of modern armed conflicts.

In total, up to 2,000 servicemen and about 100 units of military and special equipment of the Airborne Forces are involved in the regimental tactical exercise.
