In a separate engineering regiment of the combined-arms army of the Eastern Military District (VVO), stationed in the Trans-Baikal Territory, planned exercises are conducted with the dogs of the mine-search department.

Every day, counselors train pets on the obstacle course to search for ammunition, explosives and explosive devices. Also, to maintain discipline with the dogs, the general course of training with the execution of commands is regularly repeated.

Mine detection dogs on duty are able to recognize the smell of TNT, plastid and a number of other explosives. Their skills are regularly used by military engineers when inspecting military infrastructure facilities, as well as in counterterrorism training.
