On September 28, a regular meeting of the Business Council under the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation was held under the chairmanship of Sergey Lavrov. The event was attended by representatives of the leadership of the Russian Foreign Ministry, relevant departments, as well as heads of leading business associations and large companies.

The meeting was devoted to the discussion of new trends and priorities of multilateral interaction, formed within the framework of the international climate agenda.

Discussions highlighted the growing focus on environmental protection and green transformation in both developed and developing countries, as well as within most multilateral and regional formats. The participants exchanged views on the main challenges facing domestic business in the light of the accelerating trends in decarbonization and the transition to clean energy sources in the world.

Directions were outlined to strengthen the coordination of the Ministry’s work with the business community on the “green” agenda in order to effectively implement environmental initiatives, strengthen the competitiveness of the Russian economy and protect the interests of domestic business in world markets.
